Did you know that you just make one slight adjustment to your food choices at home or at a restaurant; you can make significant changes in your weight loss? Changing your lifestyle and losing weight are all in the small choices you make each day and each meal. Check out these top 15 options that can have your pants feeling looser.
- Spring rolls or summer rolls. Choose summer rolls because they are steamed and have a fresh, crunchy and healthy taste without all the calories. Spring rolls are fried and also the heat kills the nutrients in the veggies.
- Kung Pao or Cashew Chicken. Cashew chicken is fried and tossed with some cashews and lots of unhealthy oyster sauce on top. The better option is Kun Pao Chicken and in fact probably the best item on a Chinese menu because it is made with lots of veggies, dried chilies and roasted peanuts
- Flour tortillas or corn tortillas. Even though flour tortillas don’t taste thick and unhealthy, they rack up 144 calories. Corn tortillas on the other hand, come in around 50 calories.
- Crispy or grilled. Anytime you see the word crispy, move on to the next menu item. Crispy mean deep-fried. Grilled is much healthier and nice on the taste buds.
- Alfredo or Marinara Italian sauce. Alfredo is loaded with cream and butter, which means more fat. The tomato based marinara sauce has a lot of veggies and is very low calorie saving you around 200 calories per dish.
- Tuna Melt or Tuna Sandwich. Just by removing the cheese, you cut 200 calories. IF you like the heated sandwich, put the bread in the toaster.
- English or Bran Muffin. We all have been trained that the bran muffin is the healthier option, but while it does have some good fiber, it is loaded with sugar and around 400 calories. An English muffin is only 200 calories, and personally I think it tastes better. I like to put an egg on it for added protein.
- Hot Sandwich or cold sandwich. Hot sandwiches such as Philly cheese steak or meatball subs, are loaded with double the amount of calories as a cold sub with turkey or ham.
- Body by Vi Shake or Milkshake. The Body by Vi Shake is 100 calories and packed with nutrients, 23 vitamins and minerals, and prebiotics. A milkshake is packed with 600+ calories, fat and sugar. A no brainer! The Vi-shake helps you lose weight and milkshake makes you gain weight.
- Tandoori or Tikka Masala. When going out for Indian food, choose Tandoori dishes because they are grilled or slow cooked and contain very few calories. The flavor is great! Masala is loaded with cream and calories.
- Tartar Sauce or Cocktail Sauce. The soybean oil and mayo in tartar sauce can have over 15 grams of fat per 2 tablespoons. Yikes. Stick with cocktail sauce, which has zero fat. Shrimp cocktail is a great and healthy appetizer.
- Massaman or Gaeng Pah Curry. Ganeg Pad Curry is loaded with spices and is water based. Other curries, like Massaman, have a coconut base which contains a lot of fat.
- Béarnaise Sauce or Peppercorn. Adding a sauce like, Bearnaise, just adds extra calories since they are loaded with butter and egg yolks. If you just season your steak with spices or peppercorn, you add flavor without calories.
- Fried Rice or Steamed Rice. Fried rice can be very tasty with the veggies and cut up meat. Try adding peppers and onions and pieces of shrimp or chicken to steamed rice. You’ll be surprised how good it tastes without the extra oil and fat.
- Mayo or Mustard. If you can cut out mayo, you will be better off all around. Mustard has a great taste and is on 20 calories versus 100 calories and 10 grams of fat for the same serving of mayo.
